Small treasures

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Flux Gallery presents small treasures by C J Shane, Lee Roy Beach, Lynne Yamaguchi, Mary Vaneecke, and Sheryl Holland, July 8 and 9.

Next Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9, Flux Gallery will feature small treasures by artists C J Shane, Lee Roy Beach, Lynne Yamaguchi, Mary Vaneecke, and Sheryl Holland. Our show will coincide with the summer Zuni fetish show at Grey Dog Trading Company, our neighbor at Plaza Palomino. Special for the show, we will offer a 10% discount on small works at Flux with a same-day receipt from Grey Dog; Grey Dog will reciprocate by offering 10% off of its Zuni fetishes with a same-day receipt from Flux. Flux will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Grey Dog, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come out and celebrate small with us!

Flux gets a facelift

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

We have just finished repainting Flux, and rehanging it with work from our new and old artists. There are six of us now—Lee Roy Beach, Peter Eisner, and Lynne Yamaguchi, plus Sheryl Holland, C J Shane, and Mary Vaneecke. (A seventh artist will join us in October.) Please come by and check out the new work and our fresh face. Over the summer, we are open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Flux in flux

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Flux Gallery is living up to its name this summer. Three more members are moving on—two to larger markets, one to another country. Carol Ann and Shirley Wagner will be refocusing their efforts on larger art markets outside of Tucson. Katherine Minott will be heading south to Mexico for a few months.

Although we will miss our sister artists, Flux’s future looks fine. We have three new artists to fill our space and your homes. Sheryl Holland, who was a guest artist at Flux in February, joined us as of June 1. Her colorful acrylic abstracts are already gracing the gallery.

On July 1, CJ Shane and Mary Vaneecke will officially join us. Shane, as she likes to be known, paints abstract landscapes and makes prints and artists’ books. Mary is a fiber artist who uses surface design techniques such as paint and pencil on fabric, discharge dyeing, decorative stitching, and machine quilting to create fabric wall pieces.
